People experience the presence of Jesus Christ in the world through the ministry of the Church. The first task of the parish community is to reach out to all people in Christian love and service. Christian hospitality draws people together, opens them to participation, and sets the tone of the liturgy. As many of you know, the term "Hospitality Minister" has many meanings and carries with it a variety of duties. Hospitality Ministers are more than ushers, money collectors, and bulletin distributors. More importantly we help build our faith community by being dependable, kind, reverent, and joyful as we carry out the duties of our ministry. We make everyone who enters the church feel welcome. And we perform duties to make our liturgies run smoothly so as to maintain an atmosphere of reverence and awe of God's presence.
